About PDF Limit

The job PDF Limit solves

PDF Limit is a focused browser utility for reducing a PDF and checking the actual result against the maximum size required by a form, portal, email system, or application. The pass or over-target result is based on the selected byte limit, not a vague compression level.

How it is maintained

PDF Limit is maintained alongside ImageUnder and TextLimit as an independent, single-purpose utility. Changes are evaluated against the core job: help someone create and verify a smaller PDF without requiring an account or a server upload queue.

Private by design

Selected PDFs are read and processed in the browser tab. The compressor does not upload the document to a PDF Limit server. Hosting and aggregate interaction requests are separate from the PDF bytes and are described on the privacy page.

What compression can change

The tool first tries a structural rewrite intended to retain text. Balanced and strong compression can rasterize pages when a strict target requires a larger reduction. Rasterization can remove selectable text, links, fields, bookmarks, layers, annotations, and accessibility structure.

What the tool does not promise

PDF structure and image content vary, so PDF Limit cannot guarantee that every document will reach every target or preserve every feature. It does not validate official filing rules, certify PDF/A, repair damaged documents, or replace a dedicated redaction tool.

How to use results responsibly

Open the downloaded file, verify the page count and order, inspect small text and machine-readable codes, and test any behavior you need before submitting it. Keep the original because lossy page compression is not reversible.
